More Japanese Game Show
So I can’t help continuing to watch I Survived a Japanese Game Show. For me, I want to see what they get to do for their rewards and punishments rather than the games themselves. It reminds me of Japanese culture and brings back memories. Oh, of couse they haven’t fixed the title caption – I doubt they ever will for the entire season. It still bothers me.. it’s like instead of saying “I Survived a Japanese Game Show”, they cut it off in a wrong place saying “ived a Japanse Game Show”. Get the idea? Kanye, tell them!
Last night, the losing team got to do a little farming work. They were taken to a rice field to plant some rice plants. I was a little surprised that they let them do it, becase Japanese are pretty finicky, and when it comes to rice they even consider it kind of – sacred. I’m sure these Americans made a mess in there. I grew up surrounded by rice fields. I remember the farmers who did the planting were mostly older women, so it must have been a rough job. That’s the traditional way to do it – manually by hands, but they do have a machine that does the planting and I’m sure that’s the mainstream. The rice field is filled with water when they first plant them in spring. In the water there’s usually lots of tadpoles that we used to catch. I have a whole another story on this – one time I caught a whole bunch but I don’t want to finish this story as it’s kind of gross.. maybe another time. Then the plants grow over the summer and they cut them all off at the bottom for harvesting in fall. By then the field is muddy dry with the roots sticking out, and it becomes a playground for us kids. Fun times.
