Bigger, faster and badder

My new computer finally arrived today! Boy was this ever a lot of troubles. It’s good thing I’m somewhat technically friendly. So I open the box, hook it up, and turn it on. It shuts off after like 5 seconds. I scramble around and try different things and still doesn’t work. I go online and find the manual and look it up, no help. I call the Dell technical support. The rep has me doing all sorts of very basic troubleshoot stuff like unplug this, unplug that and replug, and of course none of it works. Then he has me open up the computer and look inside. Immediately I find this device inside coming off loose. I report it to the tech but he doesn’t seem to be interested. Instead he has me checking all sorts of basic stuff again, with no luck. Finally he’s getting ready to send out a technician. In the meanwhile I’m still concerned about the device that came loose, so I look that up in the manual. Apparently it’s a heat sink assembly. I can be a little technical but not that technical, I have no idea how these things are supposed to be installed. Still, somehow I figure out a way to hook it in and I also find out it needs to be secured with a couple of screws, so I tighten those in. Then, miraculously, it starts up. I can’t believe they shipped it with the thing loose inside.

Anyway, it’s a lot faster. I’m so happy to be back on a full size keyboard, full size mouse and my full size screen. I’ve got lots of catch up to do. I did a photo shoot a few days ago that I hadn’t even looked at the files yet, so I need to go through them and I’ll be posting new photos very soon.
