Hanging Bangkok Hotel Staff
I suppose some of you already know about this site engrish.com. Some of the stuff are hilarious, check this out:

Watch out when you visit Bangkok or you might catch self-hanging hotel staff in your balcony.. not much privacy is it. Most of the stuff on this site is taken from Japan though, it seems. I’ve never seen anything that was so funny myself, but I’m sure there are plenty.
It reminds me of the time I worked for this prestigious Japanese company. Now, one thing about Japanese is that they love abbreviations and having their own procedures (it’s to improve efficiency, but if you ask me, it’s rather inefficient to learn all the procedures..). One time, my boss (who is of course Japanese) came up with a new abbreviation, ASS = American support staff. I looked at it for a second, and asked him, “are you sure you want to do this?”. I suppose AS = American secretaries would have been better.
Now, of course around here, we see the reverse of it. You guys love splashing oriental words on clothes, TV/movies, and.. tattoos! All NBA players have tattoos in Chinese/Japanese letters these days. Most of them don’t make much sense, although not hilarious. I had a friend who had a tattoo on his chest, which by the letters themselves each meant “pain” and “discomfort”. I asked him what it was supposed to mean, and he said it came from the pain he felt when his ex wife cheated on him. He swore it was a proper Japanese word because he did a lot of research when he got the tattoo. It still didn’t look right to me and it took me a while to realize the letters were placed backwards. It’s kinda like saying “low down” instead of “down low”.. Guys, it’s one thing if you make a sign or a product with incorrect words, but tattoos are on your own body.. proceed with caution, lol.
